Speechless

I would feel it inappropriate if we didn’t acknowledge Friday’s tragedy on the blog.  The whole thing is heart breaking beyond all imagination.  I had I can’t even bring myself to post photos of the sweet faces whose lives were extinguished on Saturday.  I won’t mention the shooter’s name.  It’s hard to even know what to write here…no words could ever express the weight I feel in my heart for …continue…

Choo, Choo for your iPad

I’m not sure what everyone else’s boys are into . . . but mine is certainly into trains.  And when I say train, I most certainly mean of the Choo, Choo variety.  Jackson recently realized that my computer has an endless supply of steam train videos, via you tube.  And he has also figured out how to keep them playing on repeat and keep the fullscreen going.    I turned …continue…

Katrina and Jerome: A Birth Story, Part II

If you’re just tuning in, earlier we had Part I of Katrina’s birth story, and here is the continuation with Part II… Upon checking in, around 4:30am, I was 5 centimeter dilated and I began laboring in our hospital room. I was walking and standing, swaying and leaning throughout this time. It was here that the severe back pain began. With each contraction, my pelvis flared. Intensity was rushing from …continue…

Advice to New Moms

If I had just one piece of advice to give new moms, it would be this:  Everything is a phase. It’s so true!  Everything is a phase–good and bad.  Say you get a great sleeper from the start–unfortunately, this might not last.  You have a horrible sleeper?  Hurrah!  It won’t last forever.  Your baby won’t take solids yet?  He/she will one day!  Even if the phase lasts a little longer …continue…

{Real Party} A book themed shower

(image from here) Following up on Brieanne’s book themed shower post a few weeks we have another one to share today.  One of our Etsy customers, Courtney, put on a wonderful book themed bridal shower for her soon to be sister-in-law.  She started with this invite in a navy and green color combo, which I loved working on her with.  She took the book theme to another level.  Complete with a The book …continue…

May has tired Jax out!

Ahhh, to be 16 month old again.  On the plus side you get to take naps.  On the minus side you are getting these things called molars and they don’t feel so good. It has been a long month!  Our family was on vacation in Tahoe for 10 days or so and then back home for the rest of my husband’s two week vacation.  We have been busy with projects …continue…

Brick Dilemma

We moved into our place in November and I’m just starting to actually arrange furniture and decide on artwork/photo placement.  This house has a few problems.  First it’s a rental so even though we are capable and willing to make changes, we need to ok it with our landlord first and also we don’t really want to pay for it.  It’s also very small, less than 1000 sf, I think. …continue…

Commentary

A few days ago, I posted about the well-intentioned (usually) comments that strangers and family alike make that might not come across how they hope.  Just this morning a friend posted on Facebook about people asking what is wrong with her baby’s face.  Her sweet little girl has eczema and despite all her mom’s efforts nothing is helping.  They have been to three different doctors regarding the issue, tried every …continue…

an {Etsy Shop} we love

Remember when Brieanne posted a few weeks ago about the hilarious posters created by a dad based on ‘Things I’ve Said to My Children’?  Well now you can purchase those lovely posters on his Etsy shop. Wouldn’t this be great in the bathroom: (here on etsy) That reminds me . . . potty training.  Ugh. I love this one too: (here on etsy) And I say this to our dog …continue…
