A Few of Her Favorite Things

So who else has Julie Andrews’ voice in their head now?  “These are a few of my favorite thiiiiiiings…”  (for those of you raised in a house that didn’t want musicals, that is from “The Sound of Music”). Okay, enough blog karaoke.  I thought I’d do a little round-up of some of Eleanor’s favorite things, which–of course–are not special baby toys at all, but random items she has found around …continue…

Ikea is practical, Ikea is fun

I have to say, Ikea is pretty amazing.  I mean I usually come to despise any major furniture I buy there (except our couch which we just departed with and I’m still a little sad after 9 years together.)  But they do drive a good bargain.  Jackson is in this stage where he likes to go potty, but I don’t really feel like springing $25 for a plastic potty.  So …continue…

A little glitz

We have shared Heels & Sunkissed Curls with you before.  Chelsea is extremely talented in whatever she gets her hands on.  Photography, graphic design, DIY’s, fashion and now jewelry.  Chelsea and her sister launched their jewelry line earlier this month, called Luci Bell.  Visit their store and peruse their gorgeous creations, all at prices that you can afford.

Holiday Ornaments

Instead of working on a mood board last night I trimmed our little tree.  We thought it wise to go with a smaller tree and keep it up above Jackson’s reach.  Which turned out to be a good decision.  Earlier in the day Jax and I visited Stacy’s house and their beautifully decorated tree was a 1 year old’s dream.  And my nightmare.  He wanted to get all of the …continue…

A day at the beach: Catching up with Jessi & Weston

Last weekend we went over to Capitola, near Santa Cruz, for a day at the beach. It was fun catching up with an old friend, Jessi (who helped with this post of ‘top 5 maternity must haves’) and her son, Weston. Literally, we had to catch him. He’s running all over the place. It’s amazing how much an 8 month age gap is at this age. (Jax is 7 months and …continue…

My Favorite Things: Laura

Laura submitted a few of her favorite things for kids and pregnancy.  One of her favorite photos is pictured above, her oldest (3) meeting her little sister and examining her tiny fingers.  So cute.  I have to agree that #2 came in handy for my back as well even as early as 20 weeks.  An I need to look into #1 now that we are starting solids, it can get …continue…

My favorite things for 40 weeks and counting: Erica

(photograpy by Casey Kretzmer) We are always polling our pregnant and new mom friends for their favorite maternity and parenting items.  Erica (who may be in labor right now — she’s due today with her first girl) is a friend from my sorority in college.  Actually there are 5 of us who will have had children (4 of us our first) in the past year.  Two of whom, Stacy and …continue…

My Favorite Things: The First Trimester

(image found here) The first trimester presents a few conundrums–you don’t look pregnant and often aren’t telling people, but you feel exhausted and sick and your body is changing.  This isn’t even addressing the lifestyle changes you have to make, like the no/low caffeine, no alcohol, no lunch meat, no unpasteurized cheese, no sushi, etc.  These are a few items that got me through my first trimester (mind you, I …continue…

A blast from the past

(images from Barnes & Noble) This morning, I was pouring olive oil from the large jug into the smaller container we keep on our countertop as I was thinking about how I should go about oiling the sewing machine I just got a month ago. Laughing in my head, I thought I probably shouldn’t use olive oil — that would be an Amelia Bedelia move.  Amelia Bedelia?  I haven’t …continue…

A few of my favorite things: Erica

I wrote a post on my top 5 maternity must-haves awhile back, pre-mommyhood.  Yesterday I was looking back at my maternity photos and I saw that I was wearing my Frye boots in one of the last shoots.  These boots quickly became one of my favorite things and have lasted into motherhood as well.  Comfortable, flat, and not tennis shoes.  People are probably getting sick of me wearing them every …continue…

A few of my favorite things: Lauren

We are polling our mom (& dad) friends for their favorite products during pregnancy and into parenthood.  I thought for Earth Week my friend Lauren would be a perfect mom to feature.  Lauren is a self-proclaimed “neat freak mommy” so I new she would have the perfect green cleaning solution.  She talks about her story with one product in particular but take a look at their website.  They have wonderful …continue…

A Few of My Favorite Things: Tiffany

I’ve been polling friends and family, asking about their favorite/most useful item during pregnancy, and also their most useful item for kids. This week, we have Tiffany whose is mom to Kyan and Sage! Here are her responses: Top Maternity Item: Tiffany spoke to one of the less-positive possible effects of pregnancy–unwanted hair.  Everyone wants to feel good about themselves, so her solution?  “Laser hair removal – I grew a …continue…
