She’s Here! Introducing…

Hannah-6

Well, Chalk + Dot just got a little larger, a little cuter and has burst with love.  Erica gave birth last Saturday to a beautiful baby girl, Hannah Rose at 2:53am.  When Erica gets a chance, I’ll let her fill you in on the details of the arrival but for now I will share some photos I took earlier this week when I went to meet Hannah.  I must say, …continue…

A day in the life.

This photo makes my belly look bigger than I think it is, but it is growing.  Only 8 or nine weeks left now.  And how nice were those warm days we had in the Bay Area a few weeks ago?  Felt so good to sit out for a bit a get some vitamin D.  So I thought I’d compare my life this time around versus last time I was …continue…

Jackson speaks

Being around a child that is learning to talk is about the best thing ever.  I am truly amazed and humbled at how they take to language.  One day they can only say a 100 or so words and some simple two word phrases and then one day, Saturday for us, they just start talking.  Jackson will say something, a full sentence, declaration, or demand, and we look at each …continue…

We’re having a . . .

First off I have to thank Caroline at Coeur de La Photography.  We had an absolutely wonderful time taking these photos a few months ago. I would absolutely recommend her for your family photos, wedding photography, engagement photos . . . if you need a photo I would recommend.  She and her husband (can they be any cuter?) were so great with both Jackson (who was his typical almost 2 year …continue…

An announcement via Maui!

Yes, we are expecting our second child! I’m almost 20 weeks and we will find out soon if this baby is a boy or girl. We took these photos on our Thanksgiving trip to Maui. Jackson really didn’t want to be bothered for photos so this is what we came up with. I apologize for not sharing my news sooner and for my lack of posting but I’ve mainly been …continue…

Camping by Jackson (as told to mom)

In early August we went on an overnight camping trip.  It was in some ways easier than our previous trip when Jackson was 8 months.  And in other ways much harder.  Here’s how it went from Jackson’s perspective. Basically the moral of the story is that we all survived.  Like last year we hiked in about a mile or so to Long Lake near Soda Springs, CA.  Our campsite from …continue…

Ikea is practical, Ikea is fun

I have to say, Ikea is pretty amazing.  I mean I usually come to despise any major furniture I buy there (except our couch which we just departed with and I’m still a little sad after 9 years together.)  But they do drive a good bargain.  Jackson is in this stage where he likes to go potty, but I don’t really feel like springing $25 for a plastic potty.  So …continue…

In the name of patriotism

Happy Summer Olympics 2012!  I have always been pretty obsessed with the Olympics.  Even back in the days when I could only watch them on Canadian TV.  So the fact that there is a summer Olympics is novel.  (Just kidding Canada, I know you participate in the Summer Olympics . . . but come on, you really only care about the Winter.)  We would watch curling, hockey, skiing and root …continue…

Mmmm . . . . coffee . . . slurp

We all know that mother’s need coffee.  If you don’t then, you need to write a book or something.  But I do.  I’ve been laying off the caffeine intake, which I do from time to time, thinking it’s time to get healthy.  And drink water first thing in the morning, maybe a juice cleanse . . . 45 minutes into that I realize that I’m really hungry.  Like, so hungry …continue…

Feels like summer

The past few days have been warm, ok, hot!  It’s a little preview of what summer will bring.  One of our favorite dishes is fish tacos.  And I say it’s one of our favorites because my husband takes full responsibility for making it.  He even opened the corona. Tonight was one of those evenings when it wasn’t too hot, nor too cool.  It was just the perfect temperature to be …continue…
