The Terrible Teething Twos

Processed with VSCOcam with s6 preset

My sweet, sweet Eleanor, where have you gone?  Eleanor is going through an extremely difficult phase.  As a little background, she didn’t get teeth until 14 months.  Up until about 20/21 months, she only had 6 teeth (for on top in front, 2 on the bottom).  In the few weeks, she has been getting teeth like crazy–she has around 6 new teeth broken through and more on the way.  Most …continue…

My 16 Month Nut

This is Eleanor at 16 months.  She is happy, she is sweet, she is a nut.  On the day these were taken, we were playing the sunglasses game.  I would put them on her face, and she would move around, trying to keep them on.  When they fell off, she would attempt to put them back on, have trouble, then hand them to me to start the cycle again. Eleanor …continue…

A Few of Her Favorite Things

So who else has Julie Andrews’ voice in their head now?  “These are a few of my favorite thiiiiiiings…”  (for those of you raised in a house that didn’t want musicals, that is from “The Sound of Music”). Okay, enough blog karaoke.  I thought I’d do a little round-up of some of Eleanor’s favorite things, which–of course–are not special baby toys at all, but random items she has found around …continue…

Catching Up

Well well well.  Look at this–a blog post!  From Brieanne!  Can you believe it?  Life has been a whirlwind with a whole lot of nothing in particular, but it has kept me busy.  That whole part time work/full time stay-at-home mom thing finally caught up to me.  This, however, is neither here nor there.  What is important is we are all here and healthy, just needed a bit of a …continue…

E’s First Birthday: Decorations

Now for the decoration post for Eleanor’s birthday.  I kept everything pretty simple–no super fancy centerpieces, etc; just simple decorations made from paper, but I think they all turned out pretty well!  Yes I’m stretching this out, but I’ll have some DIY tutorials on how I created some of these decorations, so stay tuned for those. We’ll start with the bunting pictured above.  I printed out the words on kraft …continue…

E’s First Birthday: Invitations

(the front of Eleanor’s invitation) So, of course I wanted to make Eleanor’s first birthday invitations (as opposed to purchasing some).  Being somewhat unconventional with not wanting to do a traditional “theme” per se (this is also partly due to my husband–he was sort of anti-theme) we brainstormed some invitation ideas.  I did a few drafts, then Brandon and I discussed and chose a direction.  Our decision was mainly based …continue…

A Year As A Mom

(Eleanor and me, 5 days in) Well, I have officially kept a human being alive (out of the womb) for one year now.  Woohoo, right?  So now that I have one year under my belt (and the rest of my life to go) as a mother, I thought I’d share some thoughts. First, we’ll start with the surprises: 1) You hear it over and over again, but until you’re deep …continue…

Happy Birthday, Eleanor!

Happy first birthday, baby girl! I can’t believe this little pickle looked like this:   (Eleanor, the day she was born) I know I touched on a lot of things at her 11 month update, but I’ll just post about a few things. At one year Eleanor is happy, talkative, and just a total goofball.  She loves making funny sounds and mimicking sounds we make.  She also has quite an …continue…

Eleanor – 11 Month Update

Well, I realize this would make more sense to do at her 1 year mark, which is only a couple (eeps!) weeks away, but oh well. I feel like writing about my baby girl.  Oh Eleanor, where to begin. Let’s start with sleep.  I blogged about sleep in the early days.  A lot.  As in here, here, here, here, here, and here.  Now, to be a little encouraging I typically only …continue…

And the award goes to…

We just got back from a long weekend trip to Disneyland for my niece’s 4th (!!! I can’t believe she’s already 4!) birthday.  I’ll post more about the actual trip later, but I wanted to check in with a quick note.  I discovered The.  Best.  Airport changing area today. Actually I will expand that to the best public restroom changing area that I have encountered in my 10.5 months of …continue…

Baby Transport

(E on a borrowed car) Living in the city, I am mostly out with baby sans car.  Because of this, I declined on the baby bucket/infant car seat so our options when out and about are stroller and baby wearing/carrying.  Here is what we have found works best: For 0-6 weeks (ish): the Moby wrap.  I love the Moby for the coziness.  It allowed Eleanor to maintain her most comfortable …continue…
