A Year As A Mom

(Eleanor and me, 5 days in) Well, I have officially kept a human being alive (out of the womb) for one year now.  Woohoo, right?  So now that I have one year under my belt (and the rest of my life to go) as a mother, I thought I’d share some thoughts. First, we’ll start with the surprises: 1) You hear it over and over again, but until you’re deep …continue…

Happy Birthday, Eleanor!

Happy first birthday, baby girl! I can’t believe this little pickle looked like this:   (Eleanor, the day she was born) I know I touched on a lot of things at her 11 month update, but I’ll just post about a few things. At one year Eleanor is happy, talkative, and just a total goofball.  She loves making funny sounds and mimicking sounds we make.  She also has quite an …continue…

{Guest Post} Go Natural and Don’t Regret It

Now that you’re going to be a mom, your body isn’t just for you anymore. Everything you put into your body now directly affects the brain growth and development of your unborn baby, which should motivate you …continue…

Christmastime is here…almost

Well, somehow this year has FLOWN by.  Eleanor is almost one, Jackson is almost two, and while we’ve managed to keep our kids alive and well, we’ve barely managed to keep this blog alive.  How sad! Anyway, I truly digress.  This wasn’t a post about how fast the year has gone or how much of a slacker we’ve been, but to say the holidays are upon us!  EEK!  How did …continue…

National Adoption Month

The other day we posted about some friends from college who are adopting a sweet 5 year old girl from Eastern Europe.  After a brief discussion and in honor of National Adoption month, Erica and I have decided that we will donate 15% of our proceeds for the month of November to help bring Ana home to these loving and generous people.  Will you help us help the Grummers meet …continue…

Crib Update

(okay, so you can’t really see the crib here, but I couldn’t pass up this picture of Eleanor being a total nut) I just thought I’d check in and let everyone know how our $69.99 Ikea crib is holding up.  In one word, it’s AWESOME.  We decided on the Ikea Sniglar crib for a few reasons, the main one being price.  We also liked the clean, simple look and the …continue…

A Heart for Ana

This is a different type of post from our normal ones at Chalk + Dot, but it is kid related so I felt compelled to post.  Some friends from college (pretty incredible people) have three beautiful girls and are currently in the process of opening their hearts and home to a 4th little girl from Eastern Europe named Ana. Today they are being featured on  blog called Give1Save1 to help …continue…

Eleanor – 11 Month Update

Well, I realize this would make more sense to do at her 1 year mark, which is only a couple (eeps!) weeks away, but oh well. I feel like writing about my baby girl.  Oh Eleanor, where to begin. Let’s start with sleep.  I blogged about sleep in the early days.  A lot.  As in here, here, here, here, here, and here.  Now, to be a little encouraging I typically only …continue…
