And the award goes to…

We just got back from a long weekend trip to Disneyland for my niece’s 4th (!!! I can’t believe she’s already 4!) birthday.  I’ll post more about the actual trip later, but I wanted to check in with a quick note.  I discovered The.  Best.  Airport changing area today. Actually I will expand that to the best public restroom changing area that I have encountered in my 10.5 months of motherhood.

Yes, I took a picture.  I love John Wayne Airport because it’s small and incredibly clean (and peaceful, for an airport).  The bathroom was no exception to the cleanliness, and the setup for the changing area was great.  It was at the back of the bathroom, away from the traffic of people going in and out.  It was a permanent counter (no flipping that little tray up and down), within arms reach of of a sink (literally, you could still reach the baby and use the sink at the same time) and a paper towel dispenser right there.  Eleanor had 2 poopy diapers at the airport (we spent more time there than we hoped/expected) and both times I did not dread changing her as I often do in public restrooms.

Good job, John Wayne Airport (and those architects who designed it!).  Anyone else encounter stellar public restroom changing areas?
