My Favorite Costumes

Well, I know it’s a little late for this to help anyone out for Halloween this year, but in browsing the web I have come across a few kids costume ideas that are just to cute not to pass on. First up, Carl from Up.  I haven’t even seen the movie, but I am familiar with the character and ohmygosh, I die of cute overload seeing this little guy’s costume.  …continue…

The Thrilling Topic of…Baby Wipes.

Well, even more specifically, this is a post about baby wipes holders. I feel like the topic baby wipes on their own is a very daunting task. So many brands! So many variations (unscented, sensitive skin (shouldn’t those be one and the same?), ultra sensitive, thick, natural, flushable, eco, chlorine free, scented…you get the picture)! And then cloth wipes! It gives me anxiety just to think of a task of …continue…

Morning Pick-Me-Up

I am a coffee drinker.  Oh, I romanticize about how nice it would be to be a tea drinker, but the reality is I’m just not one.  Tea is reserved for when I am sick or a particularly chilly winter day when I just want something to warm me up from the inside.  While pregnant I became much more of a tea drinker (I generally tried to avoid caffeine) and …continue…

And the award goes to…

We just got back from a long weekend trip to Disneyland for my niece’s 4th (!!! I can’t believe she’s already 4!) birthday.  I’ll post more about the actual trip later, but I wanted to check in with a quick note.  I discovered The.  Best.  Airport changing area today. Actually I will expand that to the best public restroom changing area that I have encountered in my 10.5 months of …continue…

Honestly about the Honest Company

We were not paid or perked by The Honest Company to write this review–I came across this company, decided to try some of their products and then write about them. (Facebook ad for The Honest Company) So a few months ago, I saw a little ad on the side of Facebook for The Honest Company.  Normally I do not click on these, but I vaguely remembered hearing of their diapers, …continue…

Tell Us What You Think (please)!

Well, we’re working on a few things behind-the-scenes at chalk + dot.  We know there have been a lot of crickets around here, but we want to change that!  We’re hoping to reveal our “news” on our blog birthday next month, and in the meantime we’d love to hear from you readers out there! Now, you readers tend to be pretty quiet, but we have blog stats and we know …continue…

Pumpkin Carving Free Download!

Well, it’s been a while since I have done much in the Halloween department but I realize now as a mom that there will be many a Halloween festivity in my future.  I do love my holidays, and I never frown at an occasion for celebration.  The other night while browsing Twitter, Esther of Buy Modern Baby mentioned she was looking for a pumpkin carving party invitation, and it got …continue…

Camping by Jackson (as told to mom)

In early August we went on an overnight camping trip.  It was in some ways easier than our previous trip when Jackson was 8 months.  And in other ways much harder.  Here’s how it went from Jackson’s perspective. Basically the moral of the story is that we all survived.  Like last year we hiked in about a mile or so to Long Lake near Soda Springs, CA.  Our campsite from …continue…

Baby Transport

(E on a borrowed car) Living in the city, I am mostly out with baby sans car.  Because of this, I declined on the baby bucket/infant car seat so our options when out and about are stroller and baby wearing/carrying.  Here is what we have found works best: For 0-6 weeks (ish): the Moby wrap.  I love the Moby for the coziness.  It allowed Eleanor to maintain her most comfortable …continue…
