Advice to New Moms

If I had just one piece of advice to give new moms, it would be this:  Everything is a phase. It’s so true!  Everything is a phase–good and bad.  Say you get a great sleeper from the start–unfortunately, this might not last.  You have a horrible sleeper?  Hurrah!  It won’t last forever.  Your baby won’t take solids yet?  He/she will one day!  Even if the phase lasts a little longer …continue…

And Then It All Fell Apart: A Sleep Story Continues. Again.

(picture from my sister, Eleanor and I at Half Moon Bay) So I’ve been blogging about sleep a lot lately.  You thought this blog was supposed to be about baby products and nursery design? Me too!  But for now it’s about sleep because that is what is consuming our little family right now.  I first wrote about sleep here.  Then I wrote updates here and here. Things were going alright.  …continue…

Apartment Living, Part II

Yesterday I posted pictures of my apartment and talked about my advice for living in a smaller space with a baby (Reader’s Digest version: keep the baby gear to an absolute minimum).  Today I’ll be rambling a little more about the ins and outs of apartment living. First off, flexibility is key.  We started out sharing a room with Eleanor.  It was great and I loved being able to lift …continue…

Happy Birthday, Conor!

Happy 2nd Birthday to my adorably sweet nephew, Conor!  Seems like only yesterday when I was spending the night in the hospital with your mama after you were born.  It’s been incredibly fun to be your Aunt (even though you only recently started liking me–your opinion of me dramatically improved when Eleanor entered the world) and I look forward to hanging out with you for years to come.  Love you! …continue…

A Baby in a One Bedroom

Recently one of Erica’s friends asked me about living in a one bedroom with a baby, so after writing her a lengthy email I thought I’d share my ideas here and see if any of you readers out there have thoughts/advice. One of the main concerns that I’ve encountered is the baby gear issue.  When you have limited space, the thought of all the equipment that can come along with …continue…

Converse Kids Fall Collection

Converse launched their Kids Fall 2012 line today and boy are the shoes adorable!  I’ve always loved those Chuck Taylors, and the new color combos (apparently Crayola exclusive colors) being released are delicious!  I’m giggling to myself imagining Eleanor in a pair… So cute, right?  Which color combination is your favorite?  I can’t decide, I like them all!  On a sidenote, has Nike owned Converse for a while?  I feel …continue…

{Real Party} A book themed shower

(image from here) Following up on Brieanne’s book themed shower post a few weeks we have another one to share today.  One of our Etsy customers, Courtney, put on a wonderful book themed bridal shower for her soon to be sister-in-law.  She started with this invite in a navy and green color combo, which I loved working on her with.  She took the book theme to another level.  Complete with a The book …continue…

Sleep “Training,” Night One

This is in follow-up to my post on Friday regarding Eleanor’s latest sleep habits and what we are doing about them.  WARNING: Long, wordy post.  I apologize.  I give you permission to skim. First, a little background.  I am not emotionally ready to just let her “cry it out” indefinitely, although I do realize some tears are going to be necessary.  I know that CIO is extremely successful for some …continue…

Sleep: The Saga Continues

Well.  It’s been a while since I’ve discussed sleep on here but after the last two nights, I feel it’s time.  Eleanor was doing great–waking for one to two feedings at night but sleeping well besides that.  As she gets older, I realize now her feedings have become habit-based, rather than need based.  If I don’t feed her, however, she wakes up around every 20 minutes until she is fed. …continue…

{Real Showers} Book Themed Baby Shower, Part I

This past weekend, I helped throw a baby shower for my book-loving friend Joanne.  She and her husband love reading so much, at their wedding instead of table names they chose book titles. Because of this, I thought it would only be appropriate to throw a book-themed baby shower, encouraging guests to bring a favorite children’s book along with their gift. After scouring pinterest and a few google searches, I …continue…
