Orange & Black – A Halloween-Inspired Nursery Mood Board

Happy Halloween, everyone!  we decided to take some inspiration from the colors of the day and put together a little inspiration board for everyone.  While Halloween might be on everyone’s mind, this could also work for other reasons, such as a San Francisco Giants fan. Now for the breakdown: 1.  Black & White Mobile from KLT works 2.  Fire Kit lamp from Skitsch 3.  Lantern Lattice Orange fabric by Robert …continue…

Happy Halloween(s)

My mom made me a scrapbook to apparently remind me of every embarrassing thing I have worn.  I’m starting the same thing for Jackson, I think it is a fine tradition.  Here’s the best she could find from my Halloween attire . . . and by best it must have been only photos she could find.  This is going to be humbling.  Good thing I’m extremely humble, along with my …continue…

No carving pumpkin decor

I was walking in the Rockridge area of Oakland yesterday and I came across these chalkboard pumpkins at Rockridge Home for $12.00.  I thought it was a cute way to ‘carve’ a pumpkin without the risk of slicing any major appendages.  Let the kiddos use chalk and let the adults use the knives.  This is making me want to get my hands on some chalkboard paint . . . what …continue…

Packing the Hospital Bag

I was on the phone with my sister the other day when she asked the question “so, have you started packing your hospital bag yet?” I immediately panicked and said “no, should I have it packed?”  She told me no, probably not yet, but I should at least be thinking about it since I was only at “robe”. So.  This brings me to ask–what are some must-have items for the …continue…

Halloween Costumes

(I have seen this picture for the past few years but I still love this costume) Halloween is just around the corner!  I don’t have a little one to dress up (yet), but I’ve been running across some super cute costumes/ideas lately.  It’s fun to daydream, but I know sometimes your kid will have his or her own opinion (for example, a recent conversation between my sister and niece went …continue…

Peter Pan Nursery Mood Board — the Lost Boys

One of my all-time favorite stories/books is Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie.  I’ve read the book multiple times, seen the play, and watched almost every movie version out there.  To me it’s a beautiful story of imagination and holding on to some of that child-like wonder throughout life.  I really don’t even know why this story has always struck a chord with me, but somehow it captivated me as a …continue…

Alright you local Bay Area people, who wants a mini photo session with an awesome photographer next weekend?  Our friend from college is going to be in town next weekend from Seattle, and she is looking to fill up some time offering some photo sessions while she is here! Natalie is a wonderful mother of 3 gorgeous girls, and has an extreme passion for photography.  She captures her amazing images …continue…

Fall Color Inspiration

(images clockwise from top left: calla lillies, breakfast, floral design, decor, fall) Here I am writing about fall while it was 78+ today here in San Francisco, but hey–I’ve been in the mood for fall! Normally I hold on to every last ounce of summer I can possibly get, but this year with the baby on the way, I’ve really been looking forward to fall. It also helps that I’m …continue…

Pets + Kids

Having a baby is a transition for everyone involved, including the furry friends in the house.  I happen to have two furry friends who are quite mischievous–to give you a sampling of their behavior, they can open the fridge, jump onto every surface in the apartment, and have dragged a 4′ faux Christmas tree from one room to the next (feel free to browse here for a sampling of their …continue…

Puj Tub

So I’ve only heard rave reviews of the Puj tub–that it’s super convenient, easy to use and perfect since it unfolds to dry flat.  What I’m unsure of is how close the baby gets to the faucet while in the tub.  Our bathroom sink is tiny–I mean, TINY.  I originally registered for the Puj but changed my mind because upon inspection of our powder room sink I just don’t see …continue…

Up, Up and Away! A superhero nursery

Up, up and away! A nursery for a little superhero. Maybe Jackson thinks he is already a superhero because he is always trying to fly (fall) off of the arms of the couch. Last week I posted about the halloween costume I’m making for him and this week I am dreaming up what his superman alter ego would like for a bedroom. His alter ego is sophisticated but playful. Superman …continue…
