Baby Books

As the arrival of my baby girl approaches, I’m trying to prepare for some of the major B’s–Birth, Breastfeeding and Baby.  The different books/methods/theories/approaches out there are overwhelming (and conflicting!) and it’s all about finding what works for you, and taking the information from each book that you agree with and disregarding what doesn’t. So far either on the “read” shelf or in the “reading queue” I have: 1. Secrets …continue…

Young America Furniture

(Mix Crib from Young America) A friend from architecture school works as an interior designer for the furniture company I’m featuring today, Young America.  I was catching up with her and browsed around the site before last weeks Little Fireman mood board.  I found the perfect red crib for that mood board.  I love the red, but it could be a little much unless you are really committing to a …continue…

Southern Charm Nursery Mood Board

I just got back from my babymoon to the South.  We started out in Nashville for a wedding, then made our way to Charleston, Hilton Head and Savannah (thankfully Irene decided to skip our area and we made it out before she really hit further north).  Needless to say, I’m feeling a little inspired from our vacation for today’s mood board. I also think I’m rebelling a little bit from …continue…

Handmade Baby Announcements

Have all of the baby announcements you keep getting start to look alike? Remember real photos? Glossy photos that you could hold in your hand? They do exist! I have been wanting to try out what I hoped would be an easy DIY project that isn’t terribly expensive, but is special and the recipient of your card should love it. First you need to take photos of your darling newborn. …continue…

Jackson is 8 months! Holy Sleep!

We’ve been dealing with two five letter words that have become four letter words around here. Sleep and Teeth. The teeth are coming in and the sleeping is going away. I know it’s just a phase, a part of the growing process. We’ll all get through it and look fondly on this time. When Jackson’s teeth were just starting to poke through, when he was just getting on all fours …continue…

Nursery for a Little Fireman

In Friday’s post I shared some photos of our trip to visit Jessi and Weston.  We missed their husband/dad during our day trip to Capitola.  He is a firefighter in the East Bay and was on a four day shift that weekend.  For the children of firefighters it’s important to remind them of the special work their parent performs when they are gone for days at a time.  We should …continue…

A day at the beach: Catching up with Jessi & Weston

Last weekend we went over to Capitola, near Santa Cruz, for a day at the beach. It was fun catching up with an old friend, Jessi (who helped with this post of ‘top 5 maternity must haves’) and her son, Weston. Literally, we had to catch him. He’s running all over the place. It’s amazing how much an 8 month age gap is at this age. (Jax is 7 months and …continue…

O’verlays

We are currently in the planning stage (and when I say planning, I mean logistically planning how we will accomodate a baby in our 1 bedroom apartment, not actual nursery design) for our “nursery.” Part of that includes figuring out what furniture we’ll keep, what we can repurpose for baby, what doesn’t fit, and what pieces we need.  For example, we’re figuring out if there are any pieces we can …continue…

First Trimester Style Board

A little late for me, but back when my baby bump was a mere mini-mound, Jessi made a style board for some first trimester apparel inspiration.  This would be a perfect look for fall, don’t you think? 1.  Draped Surplus Jacket from Anthropologie 2.  Maternity Cowl from Old Navy 3.  Jeans from Gap 4.  Bag from Moop 5.  Shoes by Toms from Nordstrom 6.  Bracelet from Anthropologie Thanks Jessi!  Love …continue…
