Big Headed Babies

Do you find it difficult to change shirts on your favorite wee one, due to the extremely disproportionate size of his or her head? If you’ve ever tried to put a onesie or tshirt on a baby, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about (fun fact: babies heads are about 1/4 the size of their body at birth. Can you imagine how we’d look if our heads were 1/4 …continue…

A Birth Story…

(image courtesy of Young House Love) Having a baby is a miraculous time, and while we all like to think about the smooth-sailing births the reality is they aren’t all like that. I had a healthy reminder today of the fragility of life and birth when reading Sherry’s birth story over on Young House Love. Thanks to brave Sherry for writing such a powerful post…I hope it brings healing and …continue…

A Photo Adventure

(all images courtesy of Edyta Szyszlo photography) My good friend Edyta recently spent the day with some adorable girls, organizing a photo adventure for them during their spring break. First stop was to pick up some disposable cameras and then off they went, capturing whatever caught their interest.  Edyta gave them some basic photography tips and answered their questions as they snapped away. They even made some keepsake albums at …continue…

A few of my favorite things: Erica

I wrote a post on my top 5 maternity must-haves awhile back, pre-mommyhood.  Yesterday I was looking back at my maternity photos and I saw that I was wearing my Frye boots in one of the last shoots.  These boots quickly became one of my favorite things and have lasted into motherhood as well.  Comfortable, flat, and not tennis shoes.  People are probably getting sick of me wearing them every …continue…

Photographer Spotlight: Kate Price Photography

Photography is one of my favorite types of art.  I love the way a photographer can catch a moment in time so beautifully.  Our photographer, Kate Price, featured today has a knack for creating very personal and intimate images to last a lifetime. Katelyn was my neighbor growing up, I actually went to the Senior Prom with her brother . . . and, yes, I have photos. Geez, we look …continue…

A Royal Nursery Part I: Mod Abroad

Well, unless you never see the tv, internet, or magazines in the line at the grocery store, I’m guessing you know that Prince William and Kate Middleton will soon be married. I must confess that until yesterday I didn’t know the exact date they were getting married, but I knew it was soon. The wedding may be just around the corner, but we all know the baby speculations will soon …continue…

Drink some water!

Happy weekend! I realized the other day that I’m not drinking enough water. I’m trying to start a new habit of pouring a glass whenever I’m getting overwhelmed with trying to get Jax to nap, or I’m a little tired, or hungry, or not sure what job to tackle next. So pound down a quick glass of water. It’s good for you!

Shop Local: Bella Vita in Oakland

To be green it’s not just about the products you buy, the car you drive, or how many reusable bags you have in that car.  Making an effort to shop locally also supports a sustainable lifestyle.  Not only does it save on shipping (the gas, extra packaging) but it helps to foster a better community.  To me sustainability is the whole package – using renewable and non toxic materials, of …continue…
